Opening Hours
Our school day starts at 9.15 a.m. and finishes at 2.55 p.m. Junior and Senior Infants finish at 1.55 p.m. It is essential that we have parental co-operation in the prompt collecting of children. The Board of Management cannot accept responsibility for pupils before or after the official opening/closing times. New Junior Infants go home at 12.15 p.m. for the first two full weeks of the school year.
Uniform
Our pupil uniform consists of a navy tracksuit sweater with the school crest embroidered, a yellow polo shirt and a navy tracksuit trousers. All are available from The School Wear Centre in Tuam.
Communication between home and the school
We use the Text-a-parent service to ensure parents are aware of immediate notifications. Parents are asked to provide valid email addresses for correspondence. On occasion a small note may be placed in the ‘teacher note’ section of your child’s homework diary or in their folder for Infant classes. We hold Parent Teacher meetings in November each year.
We realise parents may occasionally need a short chat or few words and where possible we are happy to accommodate this. However issues or concerns that need more thorough discussion can only be facilitated through an arranged meeting at a time that suits both parent and teacher. Appointments such as this can be arranged via phone.
Healthy Eating
We operate a healthy eating policy in our school as part of our focus on nurturing the overall health and wellness of our children. This is reflected in the Social Personal and Health Education area of the Irish Primary School Curriculum. Parental co-operation is essential in making this work.
